Attivo Networks Executives Evangelize Deception in Speaking Tour this Month

By: Staff

This month, Attivo Networks company executives have been featured speakers at FS-ISAC and CS050, as well as the National Healthcare ISAC (NH-ISAC) “Master of Deceptions” Summit and the OpenStack Summit on the importance of deception technology and its increasing significance in today’s cyber security landscape.

Attivo CEO Tushar Kothari spoke at the FS-ISAC Annual Summit on “Taking a Page Out of the Attacker’s Playbook”. The session reviewed myths and realities about the effectiveness of deception for detecting advanced threats, operational management efficiency, and what use cases are driving adoption. Attendees also heard about real world deployment experiences, the value customers are realizing, and what pen test Red Teams are saying about this technology.

One of the nation’s premier financial services organizations, FS-ISAC is an information sharing and analysis center focused on security trends, challenges and solutions. The Annual Summit’s theme this year is Strength in Sharing and will feature case studies that will improve security postures and address new security threats. The conference took place in Lake Buena Vista from April 30th through May 3rd.

Carolyn Crandall, CMO of Attivo Networks, spoke on “Defeating the Modern Cyber Attacker” at the CSO50 conference. The presentation covered predictive visibility, detection, incident handling, and post-incident analysis, all of which play critical roles in attack avoidance, early detection and streamlined incident response. The talk focused on Distributed Deception Platforms (DDP) as a core technology for advanced threat detection, automating investigations, and incident response and how it is changing the game on attackers by closing the detection deficit and by providing incident handling playbooks for simplified incident response.

The CSO50 conference, put on by CXO Media, publisher of leading trade magazines such as CIO for chief information officers and CSO for chief security officers, offers sessions that explore how the business risk landscape is changing at breakneck speed. Attendees heard about new and innovative approaches to minimizing enterprise threats and risk. . In addition, awards will be presented to 50 organizations whose security projects and initiatives have delivered outstanding business value and thought leadership. The conference was held from May 1st through the 3rd in Scottsdale, Arizona.

In addition to CSO50, Attivo CMO, Carolyn Crandall will be speaking at the NH-ISAC Annual Summit on “Deception for Early Detection and Empowered Incident Response”. The session is focused on learning how Distributed Deception Platforms (DDP) are changing the game on attackers by closing the detection deficit and by providing incident handling playbooks for simplified incident response. Attendees will hear popular use cases and the continuous threat management value that deception technology is providing through advanced threat detection and the automation of attack investigation and incident response.

As one of the nation’s premier healthcare services organizations, NH-ISAC is a trusted community of critical infrastructure owners and operators within the Health Care and Public Health sector (HPH). The NH-ISAC Summit will focus on new technologies and approaches to these issues and will take place in Orlando, Florida from May 8th through the 10th. Information on Attivo Networks deception technology solutions will also be available at Booth #26.

To round out the company’s month long speaking circuit, Joseph Salazar, Technical Marketing Engineer for Attivo Networks, will be speaking on “A Hall of Mirrors in the Cloud: Deception for OpenStack Threat Detection” at the OpenStack Summit. The presentation will cover the problems with lack of visibility into lateral movement within a cloud instance and the effect on attacker dwell times—which are now measured in months. He will discuss how organizations can leverage deception technology to gain threat visibility, achieve early detection, and automate incident response. The Summit was held from May 8th through the 11th in Boston. Deception technology solutions from Attivo Networks will also be demonstrated in Booth #C5.

There is definitely a high interest in deception technology based on the demand for Attivo Networks speakers. Analysts see the deception technology market growing rapidly, and according to FBR Capital Markets data, the market will be worth $3B by 2019.
